Our {simple} getaway

We had waited {im}patietly all week for our first trip to The Cabin. I had seriously been itching to get my pole in the water and soak up some sun. Drayze was need of a change of scenery and ready to spend some time with his best buddy, daddy. Whom was also ready for a much deserved break from the daily grind. This was {pretty much} our first trip all season.
Besides the trip we took with Larry when I was giant pregnant. They made me ride 4 hours round trip sitting in the middle of a small stick shift truck with two large men on each side of me...but that's a whole other story.
Because I spent the first half of the season pregnant, Zac wouldn't let us go. He was too worried I would go into labor. The second half, Drayze was just too tiny. If you know how much we love to go to The Cabin, you can imagine our excitement all week.
We left around 12:00 Friday afternoon, arriving about 3:00. Drayze was a champ the whole car ride there, but he was definitely ready to stretch out when we finally arrived. He did just that as we unloaded the car, turned on the water and power and settled in. We were all already loving it.
First things first, we got our poles ready and headed for the lake. We fished for what felt like only a minute before the baby was done with that. He and I headed back for The Cabin and let Zac do some more fishing. He was determined to catch something. Drayze and I cooked dinner and did some porch sitting watching for daddy to come back. After dinner, we watched a movie and snuggled together in bed. It was a perfect little night.
Saturday morning came and Zac was up and at 'em far earlier than we were, this never happens on the weekend. He headed straight for the lake while Drayze and I stayed behind. We talked about it and decided it was way too cold for us, and agreed momma needs her coffee before anything. Instead we made breakfast, had coffee {baby had a baba} and again sat on the porch.
When Zac finally returned he had more to say for the fishing....but not much. We ate breakfast, then all headed for the lake. {God bless our "off roading" stroller.} The sun was shining, baby was being good, Zac and I were spending some quality time together, too bad the fish weren't biting. This really didn't seem to matter all that much though. We were having a good time.
After a good few hours of fishing we called for a break and headed back for the cabin. It was absolute perfect timing too. Shortly after walking through the door it began to pour. It seriously rained harder than I had seen it rain in such a long time. The sound of the rain and loud thunder sounded so peaceful in a place we go to escape. It was perfect. For the rest of the weekend it didn't let up. Quite honestly, we didn't mind.
We finished the night by sitting on the porch watching the rain, playing with our baby {who had entirely too much energy,} watching movies, snacking, playing cards, and simply enjoying each other's company. It was perfect.
We left early the following morning so we would still have our lazy Sunday at home. {Really because it was the first Sunday of football.} The weekend flew by, but it couldn't have been any more perfect. There is nothing we love more than spending the entire weekend together {simply} being a family.

Ready to hit the road. He really was out of control before we even left.

Stretching out. Yes, I document every minute of this baby's life. {I don't want to miss anything}

I don't know why he loves that position so much. Makes me hurt.
